User Choice
is a program funded by both the Commonwealth Government and State
Governments through which employees may undertake an apprenticeship
or traineeship qualification. Employers, apprentices or trainees
negotiate with the Registered Training Organisation of their choice
as to when they will attend structured training, the qualification
they would like to undertake, and any other aspect of the training
to be delivered.
IMPACT Make Your Mark is a
Registered Training Organisation contracted by the Department of
Education, Training and the Arts (DETA) to deliver
training under the User Choice traineeship system
IMPACT Make Your Mark
works with trainees and their employers to help develop a training
plan, deliver training, assess achievement of skills and issue a
qualification on successful completion of the traineeship.
Just about anyone who
wants to combine training with working in a paid job is eligible
for an apprenticeship or traineeship. All trainees and employers
should contact a local Australian Apprenticeship Centre to apply,
or contact the Department of Education, Training and the Arts
on 1300 369 935 if the employer has any concerns regarding minimum
age requirements.

‘During the
eight months I spent completing my Traineeship with IMPACT Make
Your Mark, I realised that there are so many career opportunities
available without having to spend at least four years studying at
University. IMPACT and my trainer Melissa Findlay, provided
me with the opportunity to further my knowledge in both  business and the
every day workforce. The modules I completed during my
traineeship were not only activities that I was interested in, but
were relevant to the tasks I performed daily in my job at Microair
Avionics. In completion of my traineeship and the support and
confidence I received from Melissa, it has given me the motivation
to improve my skills to be able to achieve a job in the police
force that I have so long desired’.
