JPET
- Job Placement, Employment and Training
JPET is an
Australian Government funded program that commenced on 1 July 1997
and is administered by DEEWR. The JPET program is a
pre-employment program which provides young people with
transitional assistance to help them overcome barriers in their
lives and re-engage them with:
- education,
training or further study
- employment
or employment assistance
- programs
with a workforce participation focus
- specialist
assistance relevant to their needs and barriers, or
- the social
life of the community.
The objective of the JPET
program is to assist young people aged between 15 and 21 years
(inclusive) who are homeless or at risk of homelessness, and/or
facing multiple non-vocational barriers, to overcome their barriers
and achieve greater economic outcomes and social
participation.
JPET youth
workers can:
- Help with
problems that are stopping young people from finding a place to
live
- Let young
people set their own goals and go at their own pace
- Help with
training needs to assist young people prepare for a job
- Help young
people get a job
- Provide
support after a young person finds a job
