COMMUNITY VISITORS
SCHEME (CVS)

The Community Visitors
Scheme (CVS) is a national programme funded by the Commonwealth
Government. The CVS endeavours to enrich the quality of life of
residents of aged care homes who are socially isolated or lonely,
and would benefit from a friendly visitor. The CVS also helps to
establish links between people living in aged care homes and their
local community. A community visitor is a volunteer who is matched
with a resident of an aged care home, and visits them
regularly.

The aims of the scheme
are:
- To improve
the quality of life of the residents who have limited family and
social contact;
- Be a
companion, confidant and friend;
- Provide
assistance with day-to-day tasks eg. writing or mailing a
letter;
- To assist
in keeping residents connected with the community.
Facilitated through IMPACT Make Your Mark, the Community Visitors
Scheme is looking to recruit volunteers in Monto, Gayndah,
Childers, Gin Gin and Bundaberg.
