IMPACT Make Your Mark’s Disability Employment Service supports  people with disability to access and sustain employment in the open labour market or to become self employed.

We also employ people with disability who require on-going support to sustain work within our Australian Disability Enterprise, IMPACT Recycling and Collections.

Our team work with people with disability to prepare them for work that suits each individual's skills and  needs.  We provide specialised training, job placement and on the job support to the job seeker and the employer.

Encouragement is given to each person to help them develop and maintain their skills. Access and participation within the social and economic life of our community is our key objective.

What we can do for employers?

It simply makes good business sense to employ a person with a disability:

  • they are reliable and keen to work, making them a valuable asset to any employer;
  • they bring an enthusiastic and dedicated approach to the workplace which in turn has a positive effect on all employees;
  • it doesn't cost an employer anything to recruit through IMPACT Make Your Mark and consultants provide one-on-one support to both the job seeker and employer;
  • as an employer you may be eligible for a  wage subsidy.
    .

Are you eligible to participate in Disability Employment Services?

Are you looking for work?
Do you have a disability?
Are you between 15-65 years of age?
Do you need help to keep a job?

If you answered yes to all the above, talk to us about how we can help you find work.

John at Wide Bay Tafe

In 2007 John  was referred to the Disability Employment Network (DEN) at IMPACT by Centrelink due to barriers he was facing in his search for work. At this point in his life John says:

"My circumstances were about as bad as they could be prior to my joining the DEN program. I was depressed and had albeit withdrawn from normal social interaction and activities which didn't help matters and my self confidence was very low"

John's Training and Placement Officer Greg Redgard understood that John very good working knowledge of computers and had done volunteer work for Lifeline fixing old computers and putting together cheap packages for students and pensioners. Because of this obvious interest in the IT field and his request for more training, Greg found John a Work for the Dole position with Wide Bay TAFE's Bundaberg campus where he started in August 2007. John's confidence grew with each success and in October 2007 the TAFE offered him a paid position as an Administrative Officer.

John said that his experience with Greg was fantastic and that his selfless attitude and assistance have made his life a lot easier. John has now completed Certificate II in Information Technology as a prerequisite to studying for Diploma level at TAFE, as well as working there and hopes to become a TAFE tutor in the IT field in the near future.
