Our
Positive Start Parenting Program supports young women who do not
have the personal support they need to help them prepare for the
birth of their child or cope with parenting their baby or toddler.

We welcome
young expectant mothers and young mothers with babies and
children who contact us directly and encourage referrals from local
government agencies and community organisations.
A wide
range of assistance is available:
- Personalised and
individual support.
- Develop
individual action plans.
- Councelling and mentoring
services.
- Individual
and group activities.
- Planning
and preparing for the transition into motherhood.
- Referral
and support to attend pre-natal classes.
- On-going
post-natal support.
- Establishing transport
solutions, child-care options, budgeting advice, Centrelink
options.
- Drop-in
centre that offers individual support.
- Make new
friends.
- Develop
personal and practical life skills to nurture positive
parenting.
- Link to
support services available and have help to access other community
services.
- Information sessions,
workshops, guest speakers.
- Referral
to training/employment opportunities.
- Practical
hands-on approach using facilities in our parenting room for
example cot, change table, children’s play area.
Who can
access this service:
- This free
service is for young mums and/or expectant mothers aged 15-24 years
with children under preschool age, who identify the need for
parenting assistance.
- If
transport is a problem let us know - we will find a solution to
help you access the service.
- We aim to
provide a safe, comfortable child-friendly environment for mums and
their children.
- This
support service can accommodate family networks, friends and
mentors.

and telephone access.
