Australian Apprenticeships Access Programme (AAAP)

The Australian Apprenticeships Access Programme (the Access Programme) helps job seekers get better skills and improves their chances of getting an Australian Apprenticeship. Job seekers can also use the Access Programme to get into employment, further education or training.

The Access Programme is a good way of getting training and support to help you get an Australian Apprenticeship, employment or return to study. The programme looks at what you need to get an Australian Apprenticeship or employment and helps you by building up your work and job search skills. The Access Programme also supports you along the way while you are looking for work.

The Access Programme will:

  • help you work out what you need so you are 'job ready' and keep you on track with your goals
  • train you in the basic skills needed for a particular industry. This training is nationally recognised and linked to an Australian Apprenticeship pathway
  • support you while you are looking for work by helping you with such things as working out the best job opportunities, writing a good resume and preparing for interviews
  • provide good support to keep you going if things get tough while you are looking for work
  • help with settling in during the first 13 weeks of your Apprenticeship

To be eligible you must be a job seeker who:

  • is registered with Centrelink or a Job Network Member as a job seeker, or has been referred by a Youth Pathways provider, a JPET provider, a Partnership Outreach Education Model (POEM) provider, a Community Development Employment Project (CDEP) officer or an Indigenous Employment Centre (IEC) officer.
  • meets at least one of a number of conditions, for example: an early school leaver, unemployed for one year or more, a person aged 45 years or older.
