A Program To Help Parents Cope With Disabilities
This
program, funded by Disability Services Queensland under the
Lifelong Planning Initiative, provides assistance and support to
parents with a disability and parents of a child with a
disability.
The LINKS
program is designed to assist with:
- Developing
personal and practical life and parenting skills
- One on one
support
- Links to
community support services, including IMPACT's Positive Parenting
Program, and all local community agencies and services
- Information sessions,
workshops and guest speakers
- Creation
of individual Action Plans
- Counselling and mentoring
services
- Exploring
transport solutions, child-care options and services available
through Centrelink
- Budgeting
advice
Parents
will be provided with personalised and flexible services responding
to their individual needs which will enhance their parenting
capacity over the long term and help them build strong family
units.
Using
IMPACT’s wealth of knowledge and community networks already in
place, the parent and their extended family will be supported to
create their own support structures and social activities available
in Bundaberg.
