Work for the Dole
IMPACT's Work for the Dole teams help local not-for-profit and community groups to complete one-off projects or general maintenance and upkeep, while giving jobseekers a range of new skills and training opportunities.
Jobseekers benefit from Work for the Dole activities by:
- Developing on-the-job skills
- Demonstrating abilities to potential employers
- Obtaining references from Work for the Dole hosts
- Making new work contacts
- Taking part in training
- Staying connected to the workforce
- Building confidence and self-esteem
- Teamwork and commitment
Eligible job seekers registered with a jobactive organisation will need to participate in Workfor the Dole to keep receiving their income support.
IMPACT's Work for the Dole teams have taken more than 500 participants through the program in the last 12 months. Community projects have included painting, paving, environmental weed eradication, building new gardens, fencing and concreting. For more information, click here.
