Providing Opportunities through Day Services

Providing Opportunities through Day Services (PODS) supports 18-24 year olds with disability focusing on transition to independence, empowerment, opportunity, training and employment.

The PODS program is for young adults with a disability aged 18-24.  PODS helps young adults work towards employment and/or training through providing daytime support which allows them to develop and use their skills and abilities to enjoy social independence and reach their potential.

We will help you create an Individual Support Plan and provide you with support to:

  • ­ Develop your life and social skills
  • ­ Participate in learning and vocational education
  • ­ Access further education, training and employment preparation

Day activities and training choices may include:

  • ­Communication: Making friends and learning skills
  • ­Healthy living & eating (menu/meal preparation)
  • ­Budgeting and Financial Literacy
  • ­Community outings
  • ­Fitness, sport & exercise
  • ­Recreational activities
  • ­Computer/Internet
  • ­Woodwork and mechanics

Are you eligible for PODS?

Eligibility:

  • ­ Young adults aged 18-24 years with a disability who are registered with Disability Services (DS)
  • ­ Young adults (with a disability) wanting to move into employment or training
