Post School Support Service

Post School Services help young people with severe disabilities who are exiting education, to make the transition from being a student to becoming a young adult.

The service has a dual focus providing support not only to the young person but also to their families/carers.

One-on-one support and small group activities help young people develop key life skills, engage in community and educational activities which build independence and self confidence.

Activities reflect the goals and personal interest of each person with options available as diverse as the participants (we do our very best to accommodate everyone’s goals) :

  • Learning life skills – cooking, shopping, cleaning and other essential skills for general living
  • Recreation and community access activities – hiking, snorkelling, visits to the beach, swimming, BBQs, sailing, individual and team sports, music, art, computing, ten pin bowling, celebrating events, woodworking, gardening, visiting the library etc

Learning at IMPACT is LOTS OF FUN!

IMPACT staff will:

  • Negotiate with the young person and their family an appropriate support package centred around personal needs and goals
  • Provide ongoing monitoring and consultation with families/carers
  • Provide information to the families/carers during reviews of the individual programs
  • Work within the framework of the Queensland Disability Service Standards
