Mental Health Carers Support Service

Providing long term support to families, carers, young people and children living in households with mental illness through one-on-one assistance; education; information and community access; group and individual support for young people and children.

Everyones experience of mental illness is unique. Support will focus on each persons individual strengths and needs including counselling services, advocacy,relationships, social and peer support.

Servicing the residents of Bundaberg, Childers and Gin Gin

  • Providing personalised one-on-one support services to family members and carers living in households with mental illness
  • Providing support for children and young people living with parents or family members with mental illness
  • Delivering long term support to families and individuals
  • Supporting families and carers to link with local community agencies and community services
  • Helping people access information
  • Providing educational opportunities for the public to learn more about mental health issues and improve coping strategies

Services are delivered by experienced and qualified personnel who guarantee confidentiality and privacy to service users.

Chillin!

Young people aged 11-17years mix with other young people who are also coping with similiar experiences.  Activities help improve home, school and social life. A free pick up and drop off service is provided.

Who can access the service?

This free service is available to:

  • Family members and carers supporting people with a mental illness
  • Children living in households with mental illness
  • Young People (aged 16-24) living in households with mental illness
  • Indigenous families and those from a culturally and linguistically diverse background

  • 8.00am-5.00pm Mon-Thurs
  • 8.00am-4.30pm-Friday
