Language, Literacy and Numeracy

The Course in Adult Literacy and Numeracy is designed to provide a learner with enhanced literacy and numeracy skills to enable more effective participation in vocational, educational and community environments. 

30719QLD COURSE IN ADULT LITERACY & NUMERACY
Learners will undertake an initial assessment to identify their learning needs:

  • LITASS Initial Assessment and Goal Setting to determine their current literacy and numeracy levels and their goals

Learners will then complete modules in an individualised Learning Plan which is negotiated with their trainer based on the results of their initial assessment and the goals they have identified. 

The course allows for different pathways for the learner. Pathways could be Literacy only, Numeracy only or a combination of Literacy and Numeracy pathway using the following modules:  

  • LITNUM1 Literacy/Numeracy 1 Simple speaking, reading, writing and number skills based on everyday activities
  • LIT 2 Literacy 2 Further development of speaking, reading and writing skills 2
  • LIT 3 Literacy 3 Further development of speaking, reading and writing skills 3
  • LIT 4 Literacy 4 Further development of speaking, reading and writing skills 4
  • NUM 2 Numeracy 2 Further development of number skills 2
  • NUM 3 Numeracy 3 Further development of number skills 3


NOTE: A learner accessing the Literacy only pathway, and depending on their competence in language and literacy, will access the modules LIT 2, LIT 3, LIT 4 or LIT 5. 

For a Numeracy only pathway, the learner would access NUM 2 or NUM 3. 

For a combined Literacy and Numeracy pathway with increased hours, the learner would access LITNUM 1. 

Maximum of 10 participants per course
