Through intensive case management, participants will access:
- Personal and life skills development opportunities
- Knowledge of job preparation skills and job search techniques
- Language, Literacy and Numeracy support (as required)
- Vocational skills training aligned to career choice
- Workplace skills development through participation in workplace engagement activities such as work experience or work trials
- Learn strategies to overcome barriers to participation in the workforce
- Mentoring support once employed - for the new worker and the employer to sustain the placement.
IMPACT’s Case Worker supported by our Industry Liaison Officer will work with long term unemployed job seekers i.e. those with barriers to workforce participation or with difficulties sustaining a job by:
- Identifying any under-pinning issues and barriers that may be preventing a job seeker from either finding suitable work or stopping them from engaging long term in the labour market
- Looking for solutions to fill skills gaps e.g. literacy/numeracy; vocational training; non-vocational development such as the “soft” employment skills
- Finding opportunities for job seekers to trial a particular job that really interests them
- Linking job seekers into work and providing regular follow-up support to ensure that issues that may arise are dealt with (issues could be personal or on-the-job) and finding solutions to help sustain the placement
This project has been funded by the Queensland Government's Department of Employment, Economic Development and Innovation, Skilling Queenslanders For Work Initiative.
