When James Ellis decided to enrol in the CHC33015 Certificate III in Individual Support (Home and Community) course at IMPACT Community Services, he knew he'd made the right choice.

James loves the industry he is preparing to enter, and it perfectly suits his caring nature.

James felt a lack in his previous careers that only the personal touch of helping others could provide.

“What drew me to study and work in home and community care was the idea that I could help enrich someone's life,” James said.

“Though the money was great, every job I have worked has always felt empty without seeing someone smile.

“In this career all I see is smiles and I couldn't be happier.”

James’s mother had used the services at IMPACT and she recommended them to him. And he was glad she did, as he has had a wonderful experience and would recommend IMPACT to anybody.

James’s experience was unique thanks to the COVID-19 restrictions, as all class components except two went online. As he prepares for the placement aspect of his training, James said his trainer had met all the challenges and excelled at making everything work.

“I couldn't have asked for a better experience and I couldn't have asked for a better trainer than Vicki Lyons,” James said.

“A shift in focus like what happened thanks to the coronavirus happens regularly within the health industries.

“Being flexible in mindset and open to new possibilities is what makes any support worker a valuable asset.”
