Get Set for Work

The Get Set for Work program offers an individualised service to eligible people aged 15 to 19 years. It aims to assist with participation in quality training and improvement of employment prospects.

Support includes one-on-one assistance and group activities that contribute to skill development and goal setting. The program helps youth build effective networks in the community. If you are aged between 15 and 19, have left school and would like assistance to develop skills for employment, contact our Youth Officer.

Our Get Set for Work program offers training options for the participants to get "skilled up" to work in different work spaces, including:

  • Cafés
  • Bars
  • Aged Care Facilities
  • Disability Services
  • Community Care settings
  • Construction sites

This program will also help with:

  • Career advice
  • Soft skills development
  • Goal setting
  • Driver's Licence and Learners

Get Set for Work operates at IMPACT Community Services three days per week between 9am and 3pm for up to four weeks prior to commencing your chosen training course.

Fees, including training co-contributions, are paid by the Skilling Queenslanders for Work program. Contact our Get Set for Work Youth Worker, on 0436 600 461 or 4153 4233 to check your eligibility.

This program is ideal for young persons:

  • who are not eligible for any Centrelink payments but would like assistance to navigate a pathway from leaving school to employment
  • require complementary services because they have significant barriers to learning and employment, or
  • have accessed Australian Government services for more than six months and remain unemployed.

Priority will be given to young people who have already left school or are at risk of disengaging from school.
