Our Services

Recycling & Collections

Recycling starts with you, but it ends up with us!

All of Bundaberg Regional Council's recycled waste is delivered to the Material Recovery Facility (MRF) on University Drive, Bundaberg. The MRF is owned by Bundaberg Regional Council, but managed by IMPACT Community Services.

At IMPACT's Recycling and Collections (R&C) centre, we employ 27 workers with disability under the Australian Government's Australian Disability Enterprise (ADE). We provide a supported work environment where our staff help individual workers identify areas to grow their skills and undertake any training they may need to maintain their employment, and if they choose, to find work outside the recycling plant. We have a very motivated and happy workforce; some have been with IMPACT for more than 30 years. IMPACT support staff offer further assistance through our varied range of services if needed.

Each week at R&C we receive 40 council recycling truck loads for processing. This equals 8,000 tonnes (equivalent to 47 blue whales) of recyclable waste each year. It is hand sorted, baled and sold to be made into new products. All workers are proud of the contribution they make towards minimising waste and being a part of the responsible management of our environment.

The general public are welcome to visit the centre to see and learn how household recycling waste is sorted. Please contact IMPACT's R&C manager Tim on 4155 3411 to organise a tour.
