IMPACT Community Academy

Nurturing Minds, Inspiring Futures

At IMPACT Community Academy, students are nurtured to grow not only academically but emotionally and socially, emphasising their wellbeing as the foundation for success.

IMPACT Community Services (IMPACT) is excited to introduce the IMPACT Community Academy (The Academy), a proposed Special Assistance School aimed at addressing the critical need for education options that address the challenges young people are facing in the Bundaberg region.

With a rich history of supporting young people across Bundaberg for 45 years, IMPACT is now poised to take its commitment to youth wellbeing to the next level. Our experience working with young people in the region has shown that the challenges facing them today is not just in their ability to engage in education but the impact that their overall wellbeing has on how they show up for school and their everyday lives. At The Academy, we recognise the growing importance of mental health and wellbeing in educational settings. That's why we propose to apply a Wellbeing First approach, focusing on supporting each student individually and providing a safe, nurturing, and motivating environment where students can thrive academically, emotionally, and socially.

IMPACT is committed to its vision of improving lives. The Academy is not merely about providing alternative education but about creating positive change throughout the broader community by supporting students in their educational journey.

The decision to establish The Academy follows an extensive due diligence process, during which IMPACT worked closely with key stakeholders from both the secondary and special assistance school settings across the region. This collaborative effort ensures that The Academy will be uniquely positioned to meet the diverse needs of young people who have or are at risk of disengaging with education. Demonstrating our dedication to providing meaningful, tangible solutions to address the vital needs of our community underscores our commitment to this mission.

We are currently working through the application process with the regulator, the Non-State Schools Accreditation Board (NSSAB). While applications can take several months to be processed, our goal is clear: to open The Academy's doors in 2025, initially catering to students from Years 11 and 12.

We invite you to join us on this journey and share in our enthusiasm for the positive changes The Academy will bring. Stay informed about our progress, and together, let’s make a lasting IMPACT on the lives of young people in the Bundaberg region.
